Prepare to Install PL/SQL Developer
First, install Oracle client from R: drive.
Instructions are in the drive - R:\OracleClients\Windows\winx64_12102_client\client\UM Install Oracle Database Client 12.1 Windows x64.docx. For the last step in the instructions, click on tnsnames.ora and move this file to your C:\oracle\product\12.1.0\client_1\network\admin.
Now you need to install Viscosity and connect to a VPN. See Jeff Jensen for assistance.
Next, install the product following the link and instructions at right. Contact a team member for user ID and password.
Now contact John A. St. Peter, IT Enterprise Computing & App, Database Administrator Lead, Telephone (207) 581 5419, E-mail johns@maine.edu. He will build Oracle ids for you in CSPRD, CSRPT, CSTST, CSTSR, CSSBX, HRPRD, HRTST, FNPRD, FNTST. The ids are similar to LDAP ids, but with an underscore instead of a period. Passwords will be sent to you separately.
Broadly speaking, you will have access to the same tables/views that Discoverer had access to. MaineStreet tables are owned by SYSADM, so you will need that prefix included in your SQL in some fashion.
Discoverer users are accessing data in CSRPT, HRPRD, or FNPRD, depending on the application. Particularly with Peter's extract tables, they may not exist, or may contain different data in the other CS environments.
