**This page is for UMS Accounting Office only**

The Power BI report for UMS Accounting office is based on one dataset (GLQ UMS Accounting dataset.pbix).  The dataset is located on the Dataset folder in SharePoint.

Please use extra caution when you change the dataset. The change made in the dataset will affect ALL of the reports.

There are three types of fields available in the report.

  1. Field with CAPITAL letter - It is mostly original to the data source (UM_GLQ_REPRTING or UM_GLQ_ACCTA tables)
  2. Field with small square icon - It is called column and it is created in the dataset file.
  3. Field with small calculator icon - It is called measure and it is usually find in a report file.

When you open the dataset file, you can see the fields under "Data" tab on the right.

When you click one of the column, you can see the code.

For the measure, open the report file (located in "Report in PRD" folder in SharePoint) and see the code. Some reports may not use any measures.

Column vs. Measure

Columns are useful when you want to make a new category based on the other fields or other formatting purpose. Measures are great for showing a calculated results (ex. sum, counts, etc.). Whenever you can use measures, create measures instead of creating columns. Measures are calculated on the fly and has better performance on the report.

To create a new measure, please go to this Microsoft tutorials or ask DARTS@maine.edu.
