- Content and Change Management
- Responsible for the content published to the workspace and its accuracy
- Using authorized and validated data sources and understanding them
- Helping users navigate and understand reports, dashboard, and datasets
- Properly documenting solutions per guidelines in templates
- Understanding the purpose of Dev/Test/Production workspaces
Validating changes to datasets/report in the test workspace
Performing only manual refreshes of data in test workspaces
Publish to production once validation is confirmed in test workspace
- Understanding the audience of the workspace and determining if you should:
Grant access to consumers to the workspace (small audience)
Publish an app (large, cross organization audience)
Remember – everyone who has access to a workspace at contributor level and above can change content!
- Ensure the data stays fresh by either:
Refreshing locally (PBIX) and republishing
Working with IT to connect through a data gateway
Security
- Ensure only the right eyes have access to your workspace/app
Identify and grant access to backup support
There should never be only one admin, but there shouldn’t be too many either
- Facilitate smooth succession of ownership if you change positions
- Implement RLS if required
Community Participation
- Participate in the Power BI Community “Center of Excellence” (formerly known as the “Purple Team”) and contribute/share knowledge gained, tips and tricks, and support other users when you can
