Report Purpose

For any chosen department, this query returns current budget and year-to-date actual expenditures by month, and includes a year-to-date total based on the accounting period requested.

This query is a very useful tool to quickly review Fiscal Year Budgets when:

  • Comparing budget to monthly expenditures
  • Aggregating expenditures to date based on the month or Accounting Period selected (valid to date for current month expenditures posted)

The Query features prompts for Fiscal Year, Accounting Period, and Department (Financials  DEPTID - the Prompt Tabe is extensive, it uses a "Begins with" String, so can be limited easily by campus or range).

This query works for a single department; the logic will work for multiple departments, institutions, or any field or combination of fields in the GL Chart of Accounts. It is useful for anyone looking for a current snapshot of their department's expenditures.
